Katy Speziale, A warm summer evening – Schreiber’s true beauty
Your first glimpse when you walk down the hill at Schreiber Beach on a summer evening.
Trees on both sides, with a path of sand and rocks in the middle; leading to the beautiful rocks,
glistening from afar, along the shore of Lake Superior.
Mountains off in the distance with bright, beautiful sunsets. Schreiber's true beauty!!!

Kourtney Spadoni, Homeward
Homeward is an acrylic and watercolour painting that illustrates the beautiful environment
that surrounds the small town of Schreiber. The train tracks travel through the wilderness
towards a town in the distance, emanating the romance of travel and the journey home.
The railway is a significant part of Schreiber and the North Shore’s history, for it provided work
and new homes for my families that immigrated here.
Near the tracks stands an Inukshuk, a stone marker of Inuit origin that you will find
scattered along the Northshore area. The pink trees represent how the sunset hits the mountains
before nightfall takes over, and the whistles of the train lull us to sleep. Everything within this
painting, from the trees to the tracks, represents what I find beautiful in the place I call home.

Sandra McInnes, Superior Shoreline
The shoreline rocks and islands on Lake Superior create beautiful images as far as the eye can see.
This painting, using pencil crayons, is my interpretation of the shoreline seen from
the Pumphouse Road in Terrace Bay.

Paul Jefferson, Karen Island (Rossport)
I painted this beautiful winter scene in memory of my wife Theresa. It has been an inspirational
scene for both of us to paint over the years. I’m sure artists and photographers around
Lake Superior share their love of Karen Island.

Jessica Hodder, Grandpa’s Island Mural
This tiny island off the shores near Selim is known and loved by many as a part of our local
scenery. As a child, I always remember my grandpa saying it was his island. So, although it is known
as Karen Island, it will always be Grandpa’s Island to me.

Jean-Marc Kenny, Journey Into Our Past
The picture of Schreiber Beach represents a blending of the past
into the future to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Schreiber in 2010.
Mr. Gerow would ferry passengers from Rossport to picnic and visit family
and friends on Schreiber beach c1900’s.
The mural was painted by JC Kenny and made possible by the
Schreiber Public Library and a Superior North CFCC Local Initiatives
contribution. The local initiatives contribution program was
funded by FEDNOR.
