About the Committee
The Schreiber Accessibility Committee supports the Township’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and barrier-free community. The committee plays an advisory role to Council, helping ensure that municipal policies, services, facilities, and programs are accessible to everyone, including individuals with disabilities.

👥 Committee Composition
The Accessibility Committee is made up of 7 members, including:
- 2 Council Members
- 1 Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Member
- 1 Municipal Staff Member
3 Community Members
The majority of the committee must consist of individuals with disabilities, in accordance with accessibility legislation and best practices.
Mandate & Responsibilities
The Schreiber Accessibility Committee is responsible for:
Advising Council on accessibility-related matters
Supporting the development and review of the Multi-Year Accessibility Plan
Identifying and removing barriers within municipal services, programs, and facilities
Promoting awareness of accessibility issues in the community
Ensuring compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and related legislation
Knowledge & Qualifications
Community members of the committee should:
Reside in the Township of Schreiber
Have a strong interest in or lived experience with disability and accessibility issues
Be familiar with or willing to learn about relevant legislation, including:
Possess strong advocacy, communication, and organizational skills

🗓 Meeting Schedule
The committee meets at least four times per year. Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed.
